Review:
I just saw the movie Hairspray at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle - the same theater where Hairspray the musical premiered five years. Could it be that I am simply amazed by the Dashing good eyes of Zac Efron, but the magic that was produced on the stage of the original Hairspray cast is transferred smoothly to the big screen.I could not ask for more. Nikki Blonsky debuted as the brave and beautiful voluptuous Tracy Turnblad. John Travolta delivered. Christopher Walken was charming and funny. Queen Latifah is a big, black, and beautiful. Michelle Pfeiffer - perfectly sharp ... the list goes on.The candy-colored costumes and breathtaking choreography was so beautiful, and even the most important parts of the film (though there are a few!) was touching and sincere.The wanted only been understood was the song Mama Im A Big Girl Now . Although it would be a great addition, other great song and dance numbers to make the film along just fine.I found myself smiling like a fool more than once. A must for lovers of music - or anyone who just loves to have a good time.
